A word on service

We believe that it is all the little everyday achievements that really matter. That is why we set out to help others in the coffee business make the most of their efforts. We do this mainly through introduction of different and effective routines based on care, consideration and quality.

It has been said before, and it will be said again because it is very true; great coffee does not happen by accident. It is a long chain of events and processes through many hands, cultures and locations. If all hands work correctly together all processes might be carried out in respect to the quality of the processed coffee seed and only then may a great cup of coffee be realized. Most times, somewhere along the line it all falls to the floor because of inconsideration and lack of insight and ability to execute a certain process correctly in accordance with the quality of a specific coffee and to the standards that it deserves and requires. Truth is it can be difficult. However, most times the problem in production is solely wrongful or lacking information and/or communication and consequently no understanding of what is the objective and what is the right way to get there. Because of all the tedious processes required in production, a lot of things can and do go wrong. In that sense working with coffee is working against the odds.
However, great coffee does exist; not because it is very feasible or easy, but simply because it is demanded. Most people want to pay more for better quality and most farmers would love to focus on quality if only they could live off of it. However, most people in the industry don´t even realize the true quality potential of coffee production and subsequently are not putting enough money in to it.

Shifting perspective, all the processes required to produce great coffee might be obstacles, but can be seen as numerous ways to produce something unique. The way we see it, coffee production offers endless possibilities, and this applies to all stages of production from seed to cup. Obviously there are some definite “does and don´ts” and strict requirements, but there is also an awful lot of room for experiments. As of today working with great quality coffee is working with something rare and fragile. That sort of thing needs to be treated with respect. Doing so requires care, consideration and understanding. This is a lot to ask, and the quest for truly great coffee can be tiring, time consuming and unrealistic to realize singlehandedly for many small businesses. However, more and more quality coffee offerings are available and it is worth to put in the efforts required to secure the quality being realized in the finished product. It is worth experimenting to find the way to get the most out of the beans; the difference is obvious and the general appreciation of unique qualities is only getting bigger by the day.

At Compass Coffee Consulting we are passionate about coffee and we are willing to work side by side with your business to make sure that you are working along the lines of the farmers/producers and not against them. So if coffee is your business, we will help you realize the full potential of your coffee and make sure that you will be able to offer a better quality product and service.
